Directions
Dartmouth is located on the south west tip of Devon. From London, the South East and the North, follow the M5 south, past Exeter. Just after Exeter, the motorway then turns into the A38 dual carriageway. Continue towards Plymouth along the A38 and take the junction signposted for Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge (about 20 minutes drive from the Exeter Junction).
From The A38 Exit From the A38 junction, follow the signs to Totnes, passing through Dartington. On approach to Totnes, take a right - signposted to Dartmouth and Salcombe. Follow that road for about 6 miles across country passing through Harbertonford. At the BP garage at Hallwell Cross, turn left and follow the road for 6 miles to Dartmouth.
In Dartmouth As you enter Dartmouth, you will see a Park and Ride on the right. Go across the roundabout, past the BP garage on your right and continue down the hill past the Britannia Royal Naval College on your left. At the bottom of the hill you are in a one way system. Keep to the left hand lane and follow the signs to the Town. (The right hand lane is for the ferry). Follow the embankment and before the zebra crossing, turn right into Mayors Avenue. The main car park is directly on your left.
Parking We respectfully ask guests not to park in the driveway / car-port at the side of the Captain's House as it is not our property. During the duration of your stay we supply a parking permit allowing free use of the Dartmouth Park and ride, the Mayors Avenue car park and various long stay car parks in South Hams. The permit does not guarantee a parking space and is not valid in Reserved parking bays.
On Foot from the Car Park-Tourist Information Centre The Captain's House is just a couple of minutes walk from the car park. Opposite the main entrance/exit to the car park is Kings Quay which leads to Clarence Street. Glance to your right and you'll see the Captain's House.
